A residence permit is a licence granting foreign citizens the right to reside in Turkey for a certain period of time. All issues related to residence permits are regulated in the Law No. 6458 on Foreigners and International Protection, and it is stated in the Law that the residence permit applications of foreign citizens consist of 6 categories and will be evaluated. The types of residence permits are listed as long-term residence permit, short-term residence permit, student residence permit, family residence permit, victim of human trafficking residence permit and humanitarian residence permit.
However, it is important to note that due to the current state of war between Ukraine and Russia, some exceptions have been granted to Ukrainian citizens regarding residence permits in Turkey.
